Rules
All vendors agree to comply with the following rules when exhibiting and selling animals at Göteborg Expo.
The organiser reserves the right, when necessary and in consultation with the expo's animal welfare officer, to remove vendors who violate the rules below.
## General Rules
* No animals that are prohibited under Swedish legislation may be present at the expo.
* All vendors are required to provide information regarding the care of the animal in accordance with Chapter 3, Section 3 of the Swedish Animal Welfare Authority's regulations and general guidelines (DFS 2014:17) concerning the keeping, breeding and sale of animals intended for companionship and hobby purposes. See the links at the bottom of this document.
* When selling an animal, the vendor must provide a breeder's certificate.
The breeder's certificate must include the following information:
* The animal's scientific name and Swedish common name, if one exists.
* Contact details for the buyer, seller and/or breeder.
* Breeder information must be presented to the organiser upon request.
* Date of birth, where available.
* Sex, where available.
* Date of transfer.
* Any listing status of the animal, for example CITES listing.
## Animal Health and Handling
Animals that are clearly stressed or show clinical signs of illness must be removed from the sales table and placed where they will not be disturbed by visitors. The organiser may require a vendor to remove animals if there is reason to do so, for example if there is suspicion that an animal has been wild-caught.
Animals may not be handled outside their container during the expo. If repackaging or similar handling is necessary, please contact the expo inspectors.
It is strictly prohibited to shake or tap on animal containers.
Sold or purchased animals must not be carried around Göteborg Expo any longer than necessary. Vendors must offer buyers the option of leaving their newly purchased animals with the vendor until they leave Göteborg Expo. It is the responsibility of the vendor/exhibitor to inform buyers of this.
## Housing and Display
Reptiles must be housed individually, with the exception of smaller aquatic turtles over 10 cm. Containers for aquatic turtles must be appropriately sized according to the number of animals.
Containers may only allow visibility from one side.
The container must have an internal volume of at least 1.5 decilitres. Animals must be able to turn around without difficulty and rest in a natural body position.
The shortest side or smallest diameter of the container must be at least:
* 1.5 times the snout-to-vent length for lizards and amphibians.
* 0.3 times the snout-to-tail-tip length for snakes.
* 2 times the carapace length for turtles.
The height of the container must be appropriate for the species' size and behaviour.
Containers must include furnishings that provide security and also allow safe transport. They must be adapted to the species with regard to humidity, temperature and natural lifestyle.
For example, fully aquatic animals must be kept in aquatic conditions, semi-aquatic animals on moist substrate, and all other animals must be provided with suitable substrate and furnishings appropriate for the species.
Furnishings should allow visitors to observe the animals relatively easily.
## Temperature and Humidity
Vendors selling species whose temperature requirements differ from the venue temperature (21–27 °C) must have equipment to measure and maintain the correct temperature.
Likewise, vendors selling species with specific humidity requirements must have equipment available to measure humidity.
## Native Swedish Species and Breeding
Species that naturally occur in Sweden's native fauna must be accompanied by complete documentation proving they are captive bred. The documentation must also include the breeder's name and contact details.
Animals selectively bred to have a significantly abnormal appearance or structural modifications, such as scaleless reptiles, are not permitted at the expo. Colour morphs are, however, permitted.
## Mammals
No fur-bearing mammals are permitted in the venue.
## Venomous Animals
Venomous animals may only be sold in the designated area of the venue.
Animals must be individually packaged in double containers and displayed and sold in that manner. Alternatively, if several venomous animals are being sold, they may be individually packaged in single containers that are then placed inside a larger display container.
When selling venomous animals, it is the vendor's responsibility to ensure that each animal is individually packaged in double containers and securely taped so that it cannot bite or spit through ventilation holes or similar openings.
Containers must be clearly marked with the word **"VENOM"** and the species name.
Venomous animals may only be sold by and to persons aged 18 years or older.
Venomoids are not permitted at the expo.
## Additional Information and Legislation
For CITES Appendix B-listed animals, a certificate of origin must accompany the animal as documentation.
